Default Speedometer Accuracy

I have a 2008 road king classic & note that when I pass a police stand displaying my speed it says I am going @ 5 mph slower than my speedometer reads. I have stock wheels & tires. What are your experiences with the speedometer accuracy?

Same as yours.&nbsp\\; Mine runs between 5 and 10% slow Odometer is also off&nbsp\\; i use the GPS for both.&nbsp\\; That also throws the MPG off to the high side if you use the odometer..&nbsp\\;

Checked mine against a buddy riding a FXSTC and my&nbsp\\; gps. Both show my FLHX to be 5 MPH off. MY flhx reads 70 when the GPS says 65

My 07 FLHTC reads 3 MPH faster than the GPS indicates. Seems to be pretty much the same accross the board.

It should be a linear percentage. If you read 4 over at 60 it should be 2 over at 30. This, unless your needle reads 4 at 0 and it is 100% accurate.

Agreed,&nbsp\\; the slower I go, the more accurate the Odometer.

Your experience is typical. My speedometer reads 3-4 mph slower than my actual speed as indicated by my GPS unit at normal cruising speeds 60-70 mph. From about 50 mph and slower, the speedometer error is negligible.

P.S.- Are you sure that signature photo of your bike is big enough?&nbsp\\;

My Street Glide is the same.
Street Glide - 70
GPS (Garmin 760) - 68
&nbsp\\;
I put the GPS in the wife's '08&nbsp\\;Buick Enclave while on a trip last week
and the GPS and the Buick was dead even.
Buick - 70
GPS - 70
&nbsp\\;
I guess this means I'm actually getting better gas milage than I thought.
