Default Primary slop?

'07 Ultra, 16500 miles.&nbsp\\; When starting from a stop&nbsp\\;I get a little jerk and audible clink/clunk at the end of the clutch release.&nbsp\\; Feels like rather than a smooth release to full power, it just drops into place after a certain point.&nbsp\\; Finding nuetral is a little tougher, I have also noticed an occasional different feel to shifting.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;Rather than the normal travel of the shift lever, and predictable clunk into the next gear, I get a shorter travel and no clunk.&nbsp\\; Its not consistant, just once an a while.&nbsp\\; Overall- it just dosent feel tight or precise.&nbsp\\; Primary chain??&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;

I experienced something very similar to this.&nbsp\\; It went away when I changed the primary oil.&nbsp\\; I used M1 VTwin 20-50 and the clutch has been smooth ever since.

You probably know that your 07 has an auto primary adjuster.&nbsp\\; Assuming that it's working properly have you tried adjusting the clutch?

Have the same thing with my '07 RG. Improved when I changed over to AMSOIL. According to some at the Dealership installation of the HD IDS will clear-up the problem. I told them if that they know that the problem is there and a HD IDS will correct this they WHY wouldn't HD take care of it???
So I ride it As-Is till something breaks or HD steps-up and takes care of it. Nothing I can not live with.

I had the tech bring the release point on the clutch lever a little closer to my hand. I think this involves adjusting the clutch itself. It gave me better control over the take up. The very next service, he readjusted it to Harley specs, and the take up point is further away from my grip, and I have a hard time making a smooth clutch take up, and I get the "clunk", especially if I don't rev the engine high enough. This is inevitable since the gear ratio in first gear is higher than previous versions.
