I got the long angled highway peg mounts (50829-07A). \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; I understand how they go on and all, but when I pulled them out of the box, they were basically assembled. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; I have tried to get the main mountings screws out of the mount, I can't budge it. It's the (instructions part number 8) that goes through the clamp that attaches to the crash bars. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; When you twist on it, it will ratchet to one side or another, but I can't get the screw to come loose. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
Anyway, I haven't put heat on it yet, but I'm wondering if someone put this together with locktite?
Anyone had any experience with this? \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Thanks for any help.
hey guys, it was a new set and I couldn't budge it with a short allen wrench. \\; I was afraid to really get "down" on it, so as long as I know that it "right hand" threads and it us screws normally, I'll bring out the big wrench.
thought is was crazy being so tight, being new? \\; weird.
I recently bought the short version of the same clamps. Had the same issue. I 'bout busted a gut trying to get the main bolts loose.
Took em back to the dealer, and they said "Yea, the factory uses a lil too much loctite on these." They put the clamps on a broom handle and used a long allen wrench to break the main bolt loose. Install from there was a snap.
 \\;
I have no idea why they would loctite them from the factory. Seems to me a little tube of red loctite in the box would be more useful.
 \\;
Good luck!

I was at a HD parts counter the other day and saw a parts guy wrestling with a set... they finally put them in a vice. I couldn't figure out what they were doing, but this explains it.
 \\;
Mine didn't come that way. They were fine, but I bought them when I bought the bike and the "HD technician" couldn't figure out how to put them on right. (Translation - HD tech didn't want to be bothered.) So I did it right myself.

i got a socket/allen and my 3/8" socket wrench and jumped on it, no budge. Hmmmm, got the heat gun out, heated it HOT and guess what? it came unscrewed. \\; Red Locktite that was GOBBED on the bolt was the culprit,
