Default FLHX help please

I am removing the front forks. Got the wheel off and outer faring and turn signals. The Shop manual is confusing at this point. Do I remove the inner faring and instrumen pannel? any help would be much appreciated. If so is there a trick to remove the plugs? do I need a special tool? Thanks

Depends...do you want to paint the inner fairing?

You only need to remove the lower piece of the inner fairing with the switches to remove the forks.&nbsp\\; Some say you don't need to do that, but I was never successful without removing that piece.
