6 Speed Transmission
You can get the gears from Chicago Harley for about $1800. It is about 8 hours labor to install. Benefit is 85mph and 43 mpg. Best mod I ever did. Twin cam 88 always sounded like the top end was going to blow at 80.
I wish our bikes came out stock w 6 speed trans. with a true overdrive. I would guess about $2000 ++++ installed. I took an average fuel milage consumption and divided it out to how many miles I had on my old bike, I think I spent about $800 on fulel the hole time I had it. You'ld have to get alot of miles to accually save $$$$. I know its better for the life of the moter too and i wish i had 6 speed but I don't think I want to spend the money, that alot of chrome and accessories.
I was talking to the local Harley shop about how to get better MPG out of my EG. The guy thought that installed a 6-speed would run me around $2800 (parts and labor). But being a Harley shop that would have been "Genuine Harley Parts" of course. Aftermarket might be cheaper.

My plan is to spend a bit more and just buy the whole SE assembly for $2500 through Zanatti's if I remember the price correctly. That way the install should be easier and I can sell my whole 5 speed tranny to help recoup the cost.
With that said, any idea of an install price of just swapping out the whole assembly?

I checked this out before I bought just the gears. It is another 4 hours of labor to do the whole tranmission. I was able to sell my gears on ebay for $400 so I was happy.
