Have a 2007 Ultra Classic, and recently when I power on the radio, all the info on the faceplate is fine, but after a short time, it goes blank. The radio will change channels and the CD player work, but nothing shows up on the faceplate. If I power it off and re-start it, the info will appear for a shortr time, and then goes blank. Has anyone else had this problem?
The HK radios have been plagued with all sorts of display problems. (On mine, the red backlight went out for no reason) Your dealer will replace it as a warranty item.
I'm actually going through that right now. The radio in my 06 Ultra, no display. I had a few problems while it was still under warranty but it would come and go so the dealer never would replace it. So now it went out and its not covered. I called Harley home office and told them my tale, and explained that there are known defects in the radio. I explained that I thought Harley should make it good. They called my local dealer and I take the bike in Monday to have the radio replaced. So they sure were stand up on my problem and all I can say is I'm very happy with the results. Score one for Harley reps.
My 06 ultra had the same problem, then the display just stopped working altogether. Dealer replaced it with a refurbished, but so far no problem with it and its been about a year
I took it to my dealer today and they said they had a download for it and it was installed. If that does not work, then they will have to replace the radio. I am still under warranty for a few more months anyway.
