Default Ride Safe

It seems like several times a week I read in my local paper that someone has been killed in a motorcycle accident within 25 miles of my town in Southern New Jersey. 98% of the time, it is the fault of a cager.

It's getting scary out there. I try not to think about it but every time I throw my leg over the bike I think, will I be alive to dismount my bike when I arrive at my destination.

Lets all practice defensive driving, use the proper safety gear, install the brightest lights and loudest horns we can find and live to ride another day.

There are a lot more people using 2-wheelers for commuting to help cut the cost of gas. Inexperienced riders need to pay real close attention to your comments. I have survived this long by keeping to the practice that I am invisible....no matter if cagers are looking straight at me I ride as if they can't see me, in most cases they probably can't (or don't).

Ride safe and stay alert.

Experienced riders also need to pay heed to what hdvrodsg said. Experienced riders might slack on the fundamentals because they think they ARE experienced.

I agree and lighting is very important for visibility. Make sure all your lights are working and the idea of being invisible is a great one.

The more lights you have on your Putt then better chance you'll be seen. If you haven't taken a Experienced Riders Course take it - it's worth the $$$$.

It is all the time here in Fl. However the majority of them seem to be the rice burners (sports bike) and riders over their head. I mean just doing stupid Sh*t. I think here in Fl there is some way around the insurance if the bike has clear title and under a certain CC's. These kids are picking these things up for a song and a dance, no training, insurance or endorsement. They hit the road thinking they are running a road course and kill themselves and innocent people. We riders are getting a bad name down here because I can tell you they lump all of us together.
