Default Security System Install. Problems Touring

I have an 07 Ultra & decided to install the factory security system & Siren II myself. Following the directions the bike will not start. The Red Key Light does not flash w/ignition turned off but does flash w/ignition in the on position? New touchless key fob & battery. Until I remove & replace the Master Fuse (MF) the starter is dead. After removal of (MF) & re-installation the starter will turn over but engine will not start. I do not get a PIN # on the display at all so I don't how to put in a new one? Does it somehow install a PIN number automatically upon installation. Not sure what I did wrong or how to correct? Any help would be appreciated, but I prefer not to have to drag it to a dealer if I can fix it myself?

yep, believe so. seems like I read of others with the same problem, and the dealer has to reprogram.

I went through the same thing in May. A lot of stuff you buy has a note from HD saying a dealer has to install it or program it. But not the freakin' security system! I ended up taking mine to the dealer to get it programmed. They have a minimum 1 hour labor charge, but I pitched such a fit about HD not saying anywhere that it has to be programmed, the service manager only charged me $30.00 to program it. The parts catalog says nothing about programing by the dealer, the BS instructions that come with it say nothing about it. In fact, if I remember right, they refer you to the electrical service manual for programming. I gave up and trailered it to the dealer. My options were to remove it all and drive the bike up there with the pieces for them to install and program, or to trailer it up. They tried to tell me it was a three hour job. I promptly told them they were full of s*** since I just installed it in 45 minutes and had never done it before.

Take it to the dealer, pitch a fit about programming and maybe they'll cut you some slack on the bill.

The directions on how to marry the fob to the system is in the factory service manual. I suggest you buy the manual since you will be needing it for many, many other things, and its well worth the cost. In there it will tell you exactly how to do the job correctly.

If you want to try a code number.....you could first try 77777, or the last 5 of the VIN#, or 00000 or 11111. Those are the only default numbers I have ever run into. Just make dam sure you re-program it to your personal number as soon as you can.....before the bike does a disappearing act on you.

If you like, I will look in my 2008 touring manual and see what the prescribed method for installation is in there, and that may work for your 07?
