With only 30000 miles the throttle cable broke on my bike.Luckily it happened with not much traffic aruond. Was able to pull over safely.
The cable broke at the ball end at the twist grip.I did lube the cable at services.
Just suggesting to check your cables!
I lube all cables and pivot points every oil/filter change on my personal bikes. Its remarkable how some people never do this on their own, or even when they take their bike to the dealer for a service the dealer tech dont even do it sometimes! When I get a bike in for scheduled service interval,(I wrench on bikes) I always do the cables, and 9X out of 10 the owner comments on how easy it is to pull in the clutch now. I do have to explain that it was not just a proper clutch adjustment that did that.....it was lubing the cable that made it feel so smooth.
Also, if the throttle is incorrectly adjusted, the cable will break.
That is to say if the stop at the throotle body hits before the stop up at the handlebars, you will break throttle cables.
Don't ask me how I know.
i had a friend that happened to. we used a "pin keeper" and replaced the little ball with it. got him up and going till he had a chance to get new cables. For those of you that don't know what a "pin keeper" is, it's a little metal piece with a set-screw in it that goes on the back of your pins to keep them from flying off your vest at highway speeds.
