Default Back Pain

Just did about 80 miles on the SG and my lower back is screaming.

Ordered the pillow seat, so maybe that will help some. Guess I have to order the riders back rest next.

Other then that and the short windshield, it's a smooth machine!!!

You need a good, firm seat and a rider backrest. Then you can really enjoy it. Going soft will only make it worse. This input from over 250,000 on HD's. Most of them on Corbins with backrest. But there are many good seats with rider backrests available. Check em out at a bike night or try a buddies. You'll be amazed at the difference in comfort. You can ride 6-700 miles in a day and still feel good after. Hope this helps, CCRyder

properly fitted handlebars will also take the strain off your back. 2" pullback makes a world of difference

depending on height, inseam etc you might have to do seat and handlebar tweaks. had the same problem with the RG but on way home from dealer. did seat modification first(had sides shaved and 3/4" removed from top of seat) added rider backrest that helped, then taller handlebars and adjusted back slightly did the trick i was leaning foward just a little with the factory set up

Riders backrest!!

Have had them on last 2 mc's.
Just got home from a 350km day trip with the better half, left the rider's backrest at home and I will never do that again....lower back is killing me.

Having had back surgery, I can relate to back pain. Pillow seat will be better but won't be the total answer. I could go about 2 hrs on my pillow before I couldn't take it anymore and had to get off. I sent mine down to Allen at mean city cycles and had the seat mod done to it. WOW! what a world of difference that made. Back doesn't bother me anymore, just inbetween my shoulder blades now, but my Krome Werks KW-300501 handle bars are on the way. That should just about do it for the pain issues. Now about more leg room?

I like the stock SG seat much better than the handlebars. The stock bars make me lean a little forward which I believe is causing me back pain. I also have the C&C solo seat which moves me back some and causes more back pain than the stock seat. I'm installing Khrome Werks +2 Sweeper 300515 bars tomorrow. Well see how they work out next week.

I will be sending my SG seat to Mean City Cycle also. I wanted to do the bars first to see what seat mods I would like to have done.

What mods did you have done, and on what seat?

Apes and sundowner seat and rider backrest did it for me, apes let me sit up straighter and took the strain off my bad lower back.

Can you still use the fairing mounted mirrors if you go with new bars? They work well for me and I really don't want the mirrors on the bars if I can help it.
