Cool lowering the front

Well it is time. I have an 07 flhr roadking that i enjoy very much
and have already dropped the rear with hd lowering shocks.
butt need to get my heels on the ground. I bought the service
book.My ? is can i go to the top of the shock pull the cap
and change just the springs. i know it would be a pain to
do it that way. Butt it would save a lot of time. So i'm
open for some advice that i can only get here.
