A friend and I just recenlty picked up our new '09 Ultras and they are SWEEEEET. But we are BOTH having the same problem with the helmet speakers / headsets and both are the LEFT speakers. At highway speeds when the volume gets to about halfway or slightly less, the speaker begins to cut out and make sounds the way one does when it is blown. Harley dealer says it is probably a problem with the radio. NO WAY!! I might add - My friend purchased a second set for a passenger and it sounds great at any volume.
Anyone else having this issue? If so, how was it resolved or what was your dealers suggestion.
Try your friends headset on your bike. If it works you have a headset problem, which the dealer will fix under warranty. If it doesn't work you have a radio the dealer will fix under warranty.

Yeah, I have same exact problem. I'm suspecting that the stock HD headsets are crap. Update us on what you figured out.
Well that makes three of us.
When I picked up my 2009 Ultra it came with one headset.
I purchased a second and installed both in my and my girlfriends helmet.
Mine sounds like crap, it pops cracks and sounds worse than a $2 set of cheap ear plugs.
My girlfriends by the way sounds perfect.
I haven't tried plugging hers into the front jack, but will to rule out wiring in the bike.
My dealer told me to bring it in and if the service dept says they are bad he'll replace it.
Sounds like possibly a bad batch of sets made it out of the wharehouse..
Do you have the bass turned up?
The HD head sets will not take a alot of bass. I keep mine 2 bars below the center. Oh, I am on my second set. My left side started making noices and then went out. My wifes, the set I bought has been good or 15 months now.
Take it back and tell them to fix what ever it is under warranty. After all it is covered.
