Yesterday I asked my dealership about installing a gear drive cam set and refused because he couldn't give a warranty on it. I was first asking about how many hours we were talking about on the install...he just cut me off short by saying they don't install that set up. I'll try different dealers in the area. I think I could do the work but don't want to have to buy the tools to do the job. There just to damn high for a ont time use.
You can't really blame a dealer for not wanting to install something they don't sell or support. And even then, if they don't do it, would you trust them to do it right?
Find an independent shop that has a dyno. They'll do a better job than a dealer and you'll get better results from the tune.
I call "shenanigans"! Why is the "indies" reliable but "stealers" are not? Or more knowledgeable? The dealerships have factory-trained mechanics that have to go through various re-qualification processes to keep up with their quals, while the indy does not. The dealerships receive tech tips, warranty info, recall and various product information to keep their service department updated to changes; the indy's do not. Dealerships "warranty" their work; indys "guarantee" it. On the "plus side" for the indy, they can slap in any "walk-in parts" while the dealership has to be concerned with installing due to insurance liability and warranty issues (all the way up to the MoCo); the indy does not. Dealerships are like cops: hate 'em 'til you need one.

I have no problem with dealers doing work with HD parts and accessories but we are not talking about HD parts and accessories.
Does HD make gear drive cams? Do they have a sert map for them? Are factory trained techs trained to install gear drive cams? Do they get tech tips and service bulletins from HD concerning gear drive cams?
I don't blame a dealership for refusing to install them. That is why I suggested an indy for this particular thread. They probably have more experience with gear drive cams than your typical HD trained tech working at a dealership. And they probably have more experience tuning non HD accessories.
Yes an HD tech could do it, but if it's something the dealership doesn't sell, doesn't install and support, why would you want them to do it? There are indy's out there that do it all the time.
No slam intended towards dealership techs. They are great at what they do with HD products.
