Do any of you know if all of the 9 spoke touring wheels are the same through the years. The reason i ask is i did a chrome exchange with a company in california. The front is perfect. The rear sits an inch or so to the left. I have pulled that wheel back out 4 or 5 times thinking it was something i was doing wrong in the install process.
I have read the service manuel and i have all of the correct spacers i believe. It was bugging me enough that i took it to an indy and he cant figure it out either. My install was correct but the wheel is way left. It is so far left that the pully is almost touching the shock. I had already called the chromer and he said that all of the wheels are the same. I am wondering if any of the touring wheels have a different offset by chance.
My bike is a 2005 flhr and i put the stock size wheels back on it just chromed. I will be calling the chromer again tomorrow to see if he can measure some wheels to see if any are different. Any insight you guys may have would be much appreciated!
Yes sir they are. First thing i checked and it is by the book. My indy mounted a 07 spoke wheel in there tonight and it lined up perfect. It just doesnt make any sense. From what i have found out online tonight is the wheels from 2000 thru 2007 seem to be the same.
What is strange is that he mounted a spoke wheel he had and it was dead center. I know it isnt the same as a mag wheel but he used my same spacer and the bearings were the same in the spoke wheel.
I too would be curious as to the final outcome here since I am considering this option with the same company. I think the 9 spoke wheel looks awesome when chromed. For me anyway, once it's chromed, it's as good or better looking than a lot of the aftermarket stuff out there.
Sorry to hear about your problem. Hope you get it figured out. I had my 9 spokes chromed at Chrome Pros Plating in Texas. They guarantee you get your own wheels back. I engraved the inside to check and make sure, and sure enough, got my own wheels back. Perfect fit...
