My opinion is it doesnt matter how much you ride.... I know I know, people will say (like they have in this post) "why do you own a bike if you only ride 1800mi a year?" And the simple answer to that is, because you wanted to, and you could obviously afford it! I have had my Street Glide for a few months, got it in June, and I have just shy of 5000 miles on her, and people ask me why I dont ride more? I thought that wasnt bad for my first REAL bike and between work and other things that get in the way, I thought that was a good amount for never really going on a long ride or leaving the state that I live in. I really dont like riding into work, due to the fact that I know where my destination is, and that isnt a good thing.
So the bottom line is, ride as often as you like or can, and buy what you can afford. Who gives a crap about the trade in value, if you want it as bad as you say you do, then pull the trigger if you can afford it!

As the dealership told me when I bought mine, "the economy is only bad for people that dont have money!"

Good luck with your choice!

RJ

If you can afford it, want it, then get it! That simple. Wish I was in that category myself. Probably the reason I just keep working on the old flame 1....

Last week I traded my '07 UC for a sunglo red Street Glide. I've got about 550 miles on it and I love it. I put almost 27K on the Ultra and wasn't sure I'd like the short windshield and smaller seat. No problems with either although I do wear a face shield now. Do it dude! If solid is what you seek, you're gonna love it. Mine has ABS and cruise. My insurance company wouldn't pay for the security package (just kidding) so if it gets ripped off they can replace it instead.

Thanks for all the feedback. I know I don't ride that much. Too much work and I am somewhat of a fair weather rider. I boat alot in th esummer, so there's competition for time and family. For me, it's about having something nice, comfortable and great looking to. Don;t gt me wrong, the Fatboy is a great bike and mine is exceptional in most every way. I considered a fairing for it , like Dragonfly, but it just seems like I'm trying too hard. We'll see what the deal looks like and go from there. Waiting a year will be fine with me too. Thanks for the moral support. Steve

put on a "glide" style fairing.............a stereo, cruise control and you are set! (along with air shocks, cb, .. but trading UP may make sense also.)
There is a reason they have an Electra Gliode model called "ULTRA".

ultra:

Main Entry: 1ul·tra
Pronunciation: \ˈəl-trə\
Function: adjective
Etymology: ultra-
Date: 1818
: going beyond others or beyond due limit : extreme

Now that I think of it, it is a Harleys ULTRA..there are other bikes already that exceed it.
Still and all, I have a 2004 Ultra...no ABS or automatic key fob....or wireless throttle.
My bike sucks...but yet...I ride.

(Fatboys don't have weather radio yet?) LOL
