I agree with the why do you have to have it if you only ride 1,800 miles in a year. I know I would feel like an a$$hole if I spent all that money on a decoration for my garage. I wouldn't buy a TOURING bike if I only ride 1,800 miles in a year. I only have a used 1996 EG standard but I put 20,000 miles on it in the year I have had it. I say if your not gonna ride it don't buy the TOURING bike. And don't tell anyone else you only ride 1,800 miles a year.

I was thinking the same thing....only 1800 miles in a year?? Sounds like it wouldn't be worth it buying a $20k+ SG for minimal riding. But I have to agree....the SG is my next pick..I won't even sit on an '09 ....road an '08 and loved it ...but I'm sticking with my Deluxe for awhile longer....ah well....

Sounds like you don't do alot of riding. Outside of the "gotta have the new hotness" why do you feel the need to trade up to a Touring bike???? Just curious and not trying to bust your chops. Just trying to see your reasoning for trading so maybe you can get some good opinions.

If you decide to trade it in and still have the stock parts...
I'd advise putting them back on and selling the aftermarket parts on Ebay or CraigsList if you're going to trade the scoot in.

As for the "trading in vs. selling outright" debacle...
It's true, you'll get more selling it outright than on a trade.
However, when going to the dealer with no trade you'll end up paying taxes on the full cost rather than paying taxes on the difference in cost on a trade.
My opinion, it's pretty much a wash by the time you figure in the tax differences.

Again, thats only MY opinion.

Good luck in your choice!

+1

On a trade in, all the accessories won't increase the trade value.

Good luck, which ever way you decide to go.
