Default Golfers?

Any golfers out here, who throw (tie down) your clubs on your ride?

Do you have any pics? or ideas on how I can strap them down?

Expecting June 16th?

The first thing you need to do is to cut off about 18 inches from each club. Then pick out your favorite driver, for the times you can not pack your .45 S&W. Then throw the rest of them away. Then go enjoy that great bike and get some wind in your face.... Just kidding, sorry, could not resist giving you an IMO....

When I ride to a course (usually one other than my club, so not very often), I use a small hard travel bag that holds 7 clubs. Only about 6 inches in diameter. Not much longer than a fishing pole case. I strap it across the passenger seat of my 86 FXRD. Not that much wider than the bike and hardbags. Remember though the FXRD/Ts had European style bags that appear to be shorter and deeper than new HD tourers. Just my thoughts.

Doug

P.S. Don't let those non-golfers get to you.

A very good question. I have been riding and hauling my clubs for years. I ride around the state of Ohio with a group of guys who all haul their clubs; some even haul a pull cart. It's all done with bungees. When I carry my regular bag, I keep the rain cover snapped on so the clubs stay in. I just lay it over the back seat (or luggage rack if the trunk is off) and secure it to the passenger grab rails with a bungee on each side. It's really no big deal.
Also, my wife and I travel to both the spring and fall bike weeks at Myrtle Beach each year. In addition to bringing our normal luggage, we bungee two smaller, softer travel-type bags to the luggage rack on top of the trunk. BTW, you would not believe how great the golf is at Myrtle Beach during bike weeks. Golfers stay away in droves. You can play pretty much where you want, and there are a lot of very cheap greens fees available.

I teach Japanese Sword classes and when I bought my 06 Electra Glide one thing I had to do was figure out a way to carry my sword bag on the bike. Here's what I came up with: Just bought a used saddlebag on ebay, cut an oval hole the size of my sword bag into the lid, and put wrapped foam on the inside so the sword bag goes into the saddlebag vertically and rests in the foam very securly. I took it on a 30 mile test run yesterday and it worked great. These photos are the mock up - it's being painted to match the bike right now. I'll put a nice rubber trim around the hole once the paint is done. The saddlebags go on and off so easily it's a snap to change when I want to take my swords. I imagine it would work well for golf clubs too...

For times like this, I use my trailer...sort of like American Express, never leave home without it.

Wouldn't it be more fun to just put them in a back scabard then throw on a ninja mask? Hmmm the local authorities might not like that nevermind.
