This has already been mentioned, but is worth repeating:
Zumo 450 for $350 at Costco
The 450 is identical to the 550 except:
(1) No XM or bluetooth capability.
(2) Does not speak street names, e.g. "In 500 ft., turn right ON ELM STREET." Instead, it will say "In 500 ft., turn right."
(3) Does not have a car mount in the package.

I've had good luck with Garmin GPS for close to 10 years and have discovered some mountain lakes and other great places to ride. The Zumo 550 is a good unit. This year I rode more out east and found some of the new roads were not mapped yet. This isn't Garmins fault. The source for the maps isn't updating them fast enough. Former wife and I have Zumo 550's
I have Garmin C330 street pilot. It is a big ugly old one that mounts with a suction cup. Paid 300.00 four years ago and have taken it on several very long trips (1800 mile round trip last year) with no problems. It is not fancy, doesn't play the radio, MP3 files, or store photos but it has gotten me everywhere I wanted to go. Honestly, on my Road King, I had it mounted, via the suction cup, on the gas tank, right beside the gas cap. IT rode there for many a mile with no problems. When purchased it came with a metal disc that would adhere to the dash via sticky tape. when I purschased my 08 EGC I discovered that I could remove the disc from my truck and mount it, via sticky tape, to a cup holder that I wasn't using and, bada boom bada bing, I had a mount for it on my handlebars. Has ridden there for a while with no problems. Like someone else mentioned, I carry a zip loc bag for rain. Dont see spending 5, 6, 7, hundred dollars for a gps. Saw one at Radio shack the other day for 99. Ride safe.
4000 + mile trip and never came off. Just check it now and then, of course it came off every night when parked. I also had a lanyard on it for just in case.
Never fooled with them , have seen many posts here about them ..
1) Advanced Audio Nav System at 800$ , worth it ? Pros/Cons
2) Road Tech Zumo also 800$ , worth it ? Pros/Cons
I realize the "worth it" is merely subjective
3) something else ??
4) Seems I saw somewhere here where stealers can be flashed into the Zumo's from a source other than Harley

2. Road Tech Zumo, no. Zumo 550 from Garmin, definitely worth it & available for well below that $800. Pros....... No real need for maps. Very comprehensive database of phones & addresses for where ever you are, at your fingertips. Wired to your intercom, or via bluetooth, voice directions for routing. Access to your bluetooth cell phone if you want. An additional fuel gauge that will remind you to get fuel & then show you gas stations from nearest to furthest. The ability to find hospitals, restaurants, hotels, repair services, shopping, amusements, businesses, friends homes, whatever you need, without calling for directions. Having all that information without needing to carry an atlas & steal a phone directory is well worth the cost.
Cons......???
Worth it? If you travel........Priceless! If you never go any place you aren't familiar with........Probably less valuable, but still useful at times.
3. If you're just exploring, or following a friend through an area you aren't familiar with & find that you would like to ride that area again, if you have your Zumo on you can save the route, upload it to your computer, modify it, or just save it for future use. You also have the confidence that if you just go exploring you can't get lost.
4. Stealers/Dealers can be downloaded at POIFactory.com More info on uses of the Zumo can be found at Zumoforums.com.
I have a Tom Tom ONE 2nd generation.
It was cheap, works well for normal conditions.
If it looks like its going to rain I'll either put a ziplock baggy over it.
You can get some third party software called TYRE ( Trace Your Route Everywhere ). You can use Google Maps to plan your routes then transfer them over to the TomTom.
I use a Ram Mount with a handle bar clamp.

You just saved me (or at least my wife) a bundle...
