Default Why not

The street glide and road king uses the same triple trees and same frame for any given year. I have a 2012 street . I bought with the intentions to change . It. ,I plan on shaving some weight from. It. . The batwing weights a lot. While I like the fairing I never use the radio or cruise control. Going to a road king nacelle would not be difficult. . As far a speedo. You can mount a handlebar unit or just change the tank. I my case I going change the tank 5 gal instead of the 6 gal . Also I I will take off the saddlebags and the heavy exhaust.. put on some FXR style side covers all in all probably can shave 100 pounds there some ifs. Like what handlebars. Sould I change the switch houses.? And yes before you ask why I didn't buy a road king. Couldn't find one with low mileage and at a reasonable price. But the outcome I want to capture looks of my 1982 FLH sport I once had. . To me this no more strange then any other person customized bagger .

it is not down grading. It building something that fits you. What harlwy sells today bis because of bikers from the 50s, 60s, and the 70s buying a money striping it down and building what they want. .

He most likely will not read that, he hasn't logged in for 6 years, and this thread is 16 years old.

Good luck with your project, start a new thread on it.

I love it when someone digs up a thread that is ancient like this OP one. Guys are quick to comment without looking into it a bit. I did expect a ton of "why" comments and I was not disappointed.

Which is exactly what he did.

He had a heavily modded Road King that he ended up selling when he relocated to NY

I don’t know why anyone would want to, but with enough time and money it would be possible.

If it is possible, how would you do it?

Thanks - Eric
Ya drop off a cliff then rebuild it.
