the frame and the trees are the same. Yes it can be done. If you doing within certain year to yeat like 2013 and 2014 the trees change. From 41mm forks to 49.mm forks. As far as a speedo you can get a road king tank, or mount handlebar guages.. you could probably figure out something for the fuel Guage on the later. As far as the wires and Guages.from the batwing you won't need any from the radio and speakers and most of the Guage. Some you be rerouting to their new location. I plan on doing this. To run a ST style fairing. .. but you could run a road kind Necelle it's as easy as the sharknose conversion..

If it is possible, how would you do it?

yes it is Easley done. But not cheap. I did mine . You need a road king necelle and head light assembly. And lower cover under the necelle. I went chrome. Depending on you year if you want black you have to have it powder coated. Next step is gages. I went with a top of the risers clamp digital gage since I went with 6 inch risers and a moto bar. But if you want the road king look you need a tank mounted speedometer. All the fuel tank of a model year in the touring line are the same without the fill bung on the SG . So you have to modify your tank or buy a road king tank. And you need different handlebars
now if you stick with your SG tank. There many gage relocation kits. Ignition will need to be relocated. Mine is where the horn was . Hirn is under righer side cover now. . You will need mirrors., all cables will depend on tour handlebars you choose.
