I have the short arm adjustable and I have yet to adjust them since install. I think the big deal with adjustable is the fact you can adjust them if needed. Just the option was enough for me.

I've never moved mine. I needed the adjustable brackets to get around my lowers. The regular brackets would not work.

I think the single largest advantage is adjusting the pegs to your own comfort level/position. I would bet that 90% or more of people with the pegs set them once, or until they like them, and then leave them.

For me, I wanted the ability to have different options when initially setting them up. Once I got them where I was happy with them, that's probably all the tweaking I'll ever do.

BTW, I have the short angled adjustable style.

I bought them because I couldn't reach my highway pegs without them. I haven't changed them since I found a location that suits me.

Seems like very few actually use the adjustment feature. I went with fixed mounts and tweaked them one time to get it right and have never felt the need to have the adjustment capability. Look at the "Chrome Billet Engine guard Footpeg mounting Kit" (phew, is that a long enough part description or what?) on page 610 of the 06 parts and accessory catalog. They are a bit expensive but IMHO worth it for the look. The book picture shows them with pegs mounted inside the engine guard but they make more sense on the outside.
Whichever mount you use, you'll be glad you got highway pegs.
