I know many of you have done up grades on your stereo units on your bikes. I also know that many of you have gone with the dynamat/dynaxorb material inside the fairing. I was wondering though if the difference with and with out it is noticeable. Also are these two materials the same? I have seen the dynaxorb in what appears to be small squares. I would have thought this stuff was in sheet form with a peel off back for installation. I am presently thinking of upgrading my speakers on my 08 SG. I was just wondering if any of you have seen significant gains in sound quality with the use of this material before and after an upgrade. Also where is the best place to get this stuff? Thanks guys........
They make a speaker pod that mounts to the back of the speaker (where the speaker mounts) its like a bowl. ANyway it's supposed to do the same thing. Less weight.
I am waiting for my package from Wayne to come in now. I will be putting the speakers and amp in next week hopefully. I did not ask for the dynaxorb, but now I am thinking maybe I should have. Would hate to have the whole thing back together and wishing I had put it in. Might have to ask around see if it is a worthwhile thing to do.
I can't say that I noticed that much of a difference... At least not while going down the road...
I think the real thing you have to keep in mind here is how much do you want to spend? For some people Hogtunes speakers are more then enough. I ran with those in my 07 almost from day one. While I thought it was an improvement over the stock, I could easily turn the radio up to the point that music was distorted. This happened more often then I really wanted to so for christmas I opted to step it up and go with the Arc audio setup. With this setup, I also installed Dynaxorb.
When your spending that kind of $$ to improve your sound, the little bit you spend on Dynaxorb is such a small part of the overall picture.
I think I would sum it up this way...
If your expecting to get a bike that goes boom by installing Dynaxorb, it ain't going to happen. Period. The limiting factor (No matter how much $$ you throw into it) is the 5.25" speakers. They just don't transmit bass.
So would I install Dynaxorb again? Sure. Every little bit helps and as I said before, when I opted to install the amp, it's just not that much more to go the extra little bit.
I installed Dynamat Dynaxorb Speaker Pak 11800 and while I perceived some small improvement I don’t think it was worth the additional weight in the fairing. As heavy as they are I’d look for something lighter even if it is not acoustically engineered for that purpose. My sense is that most of the improvement is lost to the sounds of the wind and exhaust on a MC.
Bob, Installed the dynamat when I did my stereo upgrade so can't tell one way or the other. Went with arc audio amp and biketronics titan 2s -- love it...
