Default Upgrades Completed - Report

Just finished up a few upgrades along with the normal routine maintenance stuff. (06 FLHT –Carb)

300505 Sweepers Installed
Progressive Front Springs Installed (Stock Height)
TWR/Missing Link Installed
Dunlop E3s Front and Rear Installed
LMR-2 Cam plate Spring Installed
A few do-dads and such.

1. The Sweepers are sweet. I really sit up straight and the wider bars feel very natural. Wrist position is great for me. Installation was straight forward, added extended clutch and throttle/idle cables. Bent the stock brake line, looks ok (brake line bent) on a batwing bike but don’t recommend it on a RK. Also went with the one piece top clamp. BTW make sure you put the risers/top clamp on in the correct direction, you won’t know until you try to reinstall the cap.

2. Progressive Front Springs. Went with the stock height because I didn’t want to lose clearance or travel. Amsoil for fork oil. Gotta say this is a great improvement over stock. No more diving when you decelerate. Front end feels really solid. Something that was a pleasant surprise is how a fast acceleration is now smother, the front end now just want to go straight. It’s hard to explain but it’s good.

3. TWR and E3’s. Hard to say what has more impact since I did them both at the same time but handling is supreme. The bike tracks straight and during a cross wind the bike stayed true. My wife on the back even noted that we were not being pushed around. The TWR went on without issues and I’m happy with the quality. E3’s were somewhat hard to mount. Sidewalls seem stiff and it took a little effort to get the last bit over the rim. Not a big issue. They static balanced with only ź and ˝ oz each. Time will tell how I like them.

4. LMR-2 (Baisley) Spring. Install was straight forward. I was in there inspecting the cam shoes so I did the swap. I had been suffering from low oil pressure and had a tick in the front rocker area. The tick is gone and oil pressure is up a few pounds. I can hear the swish of the pushrods and valves now, not before. I’m happy, will see in the summer. BTW cam shoes looked great with 25k on them.

5. Added Twintec TC88A, More chrome, normal 25k service and a few things like that.

Overall I am very happy with the bike, feels like a totally different ride. Should have come from the factory this way. Maybe they do now with the 09s but I’m not in any hurry to trade. I was going to swap cams out for 26Gs but decided to wait. May do something else. I bought the cams, pushrods, lifters and all the other stuff but not sure now.
