Default Painted inner fairing

Getting ready to remove and send inner fairing out for vivid black paint treatment. Anybody have any helpful suggestions, hints, tips etc to removal/ installation. It's an 05 FLHT.

I drew a pic of the inside of the batwing for connections. Don't know if it was absolutely necessary - just helped to get it together faster.
Easy job (especially if you're not painting them) - best bang for the buck too - drastically changes the look of the bike!

Get a manual. It will come in very handy. Also mark both sides of the connections you take apart with tape and list them as A&A, B&B,etc. That way you can easily conect them back when you put it all back together. Also cover all the tins with towels to avoid paint damage if you drop something. I painted my inner fairing myself using Krylon high gloss fusion over a year ago. Trust me when you get it done it will look great. Good luck.

The service manual has an excellent step-by-step description of the procedure. Use freezer bags to keep the screws and small parts seperate and labeled. Buy a couple of extra brass ferules used for the throttle/idle cables since these are easily lost/dropped when removing the throttle/idle cables--they're cheap job interruption insurance and you can return them for a refund if you don't use them. An extra pair of hands for removing the inner and reinstalling it is a plus. It's a good time to lube the clutch and throttle/idle cables; R&R broken fairing/speaker brackets and/or reinforce them. Cover the tank and fender to protect the paint.

Take digital photos of the disassembly as you go. You may need to refer to them when it comes time to reassemble. And lable everything that you unpluf with masking tape. It's really not that bad of a job, I've had mine off twice now and it really flew back together this second time. I had more trouble with the damn ignition switch than anything.

skydoc - where did you find this hog-pod? I have been searching on the net but cannot find anything on it. Dont think it will work on my RG but I wanted to see what other products the manufacturer has.
