Well, I just purchased a biketronics uipgrade kit, my 1993 came with an AM/FM/Cassette radio, it cranked alright, but for the past year, the only tapes that I have are... Alanah Myles and the Fab Thunderbirds... getting a l;ittle sick of them, so I called biketronics, and the package is in the mail, now I just have to call a buddy and borrow a garage.!
You'll like the kit but be aware that the gasket does not fit tightly around the receiver face plate. It's one of the things we have to live with having the early model dash. The pics don't show it that well but you get the idea.
I just installed a kit on my 2003 FLHTPI. Fit perfectly, sounds good with the hogtune speakers. If you decide to install an in-fairing antenna, simply run down to AutoZone buy one (save some money) and strap it in. Reception is as good as some of my buddies bag antennas'. Best bang for the buck!

Did you use the Biketronics handlebar switch kit? I ask because when I did my '04 FLHTPI a couple of years ago he didn't offer that product so I ended up recreating the Base Audio Connector found on the civilian bikes, and got a set of handlebar switches from my buddy's '06 to replace my police handlebar switches. After replicating the civilian audio harness and handlebar switches I was able to install the Biketronics interface, etc.--works great.
Blue: You really ought to give it a rest on the FireCap stuff. I don't believe he has a workable interface unit to provide handlebar controls of the headunit, and many don't care to add or spend the $$$ for an ARC miniamp, etc.
You'll be happy with the gear from Biketronics. Great people with a long track record of excellent products and genuine service. I had a box of goodies arrive today from Biketronics including their 360watt amp, speakers, and will install them along with the head unit and handlebar controls this weekend. Enjoy!
Actually I do. I have it in production now, came up with a pig tail that will plug into the factory harness, and has the Pac unit already installed just have to supply power and ground, 2 different units depending on your aftermarket radio, and depending on the year model of the bike. 96-06 and 07 and up.
Hey gas can you take some close up picture of the amp, both pieces if you have time and you dont mind. The biketronics equipment is very good equipment along with hog tunes, and hawgwired I dont beleive you can go wrong anyway you go.

Wayne, that's good news that you have one in production, and I look forward to hearing about your pricing, compatible headunits, warranty, etc. as well as the actually delivery of some units. In the meantime, the guy who wants it now has basically Biketronics and Hawg-wired to choose from, and the Biketronics unit has proven to be especially reliable for many, many users; myself included.
As for Blue, he's over-the-top and you would do well to suggest he dial it back a notch or two. We all have product favorites, be it cams, pipes, etc. and I almost never see anybody else saying to send it back and buy (insert your favorite). But, hey, it's a public forum and people can write what they will.

Sure will do. This sound project will include a full "do it yourself pictorial" and I'll post it in the Electrical forum sometime over the next few days. It will include a Pioneer Head with an iPod, the Biketronics Mounting Kit with Retro radio Handlebar Conversion, BT-480 Power Supply w/ 2x180watt Class D Mono Block Amps, Biketronics Mounting Grills, Hogtunes Lower Fairing Mounts, and it will be capped off with 2 pairs of the Biketronics Hertz BT-445 High Energy 140watt speakers. Should be a nice clean, powerful sound when it's all done and said, and everything is designed to fit in the fairing. Saweeeet!
I am passing on the amp for now, the newer head unit they recommended puts out 20 percent more power , but im sure by the middle of the summer I will be placing an order for one..
