I was at the local dealer yesterday (window shopping) for their 20% sale. when I was on my way home it sounded like I ran over something, heard a loud clicking noise, then I heard a hiss. OH CRAP! came to mind (I cleaned that up for yins) suddenly the back of the bike started shaking when i started to pull onto the shoulder of the freeway the front end started shaking.pulled off TWO FLATS. Called wifey to pick up two new tires from the dealer on her way home from work. Called H.O.G. for a tow. Three hours later I finally get the bike home, look for holes in the tires none.[sm=WTFsgign.gif] I then decided to put air back in the tires when I noticed the the valve stem core was missing in the rear and half way out in the front. Has anybody ever hear of this or was someone trying to make me crash? Wifey thinks some was trying to sabotage the bike. Any feedback would be helpful.
I have never heard of two at once. I have only seen that in car tires once. I can't believe someone would do that on purpose. I would like to think not and chalk it up to a huge coincidence. Glad you weren't injured, that's the thing to look at.
Better call the folks at Law and Order Criminal Intent. Someone is trying to off you for your insurance money. I have never had a valve stem come loose. They are pretty much fool proof...and to have them BOTH come out at the same time....that's a fluke.
The thing I can't figure out is I'm a pretty laid back guy I don't p*** off anybody I keep to myself.[sm=grinangel.gif]
OH and the clicking noise I heard had to have been my valve stem caps flying off I think
The unfortunate thing is that the type of person that would do something like that, is the same A-hole that gives you a door ding in the parking lot to your favorite cage. They have no regard for someone elses property, and do stuff like that purely out of spite. My wife always parks in the north fourty at the store to avoid this to her baby ( 06 Audi A4 ), so on Friday, someone parks right next to her, with a bazillion other much more conveinient places, and puts a nice crease in the quarter panel........ just dont get it. Sorry for the rant, just my biggest pet pieve. [sm=chairshot.gif]
This is not meant to minimize the importance of this incident nor is this to flame you but EVEN if someone did do this I don't know if it is physically possible for the valve caps to unscrew themselves and subsequently to have the valve cores do the same.
Given the fact that centrifical force of the wheels turning almost keeps the caps in places let alone the idea that there is pressure keeping the cores in place too against the fine threads. Therefore, I don't see sabotage being the case. I would at best look at replacing the valve stems to be safe.
BTW... do you have spokes or aluminums mag wheels? Spokes definately can be a cause too?
