Default Ultra spotlights

Headlight bulbs not lasting on a 93 Utlra, noticed that the spotlights do not stay on when dimming the brights, so the are on while in low beam and go off on high beam. But not drawing down the volt meter. Anyone had a similar experience they would like to share ? Thanks

namor,
I believe the spots are designed to go off when you have your high beams on. Sorry, I can't help on the headlight bulbs not lasting.

Someone has posted the instructions for rewireing the spots so the stay on all the time. You should be able to find it in a search...

I think that this should do it.

Your spotlights are supposed to go off in High. They come back on in low. If you are blowing them then you need to look at the wiring and see if you have any issues that would cause them to get power surges. They should last for years and years. But then again....they are just plain light bulbs...and they never last like they should.

Good luck.

If you want the driving lights to stay on all the time the easiest way is put them on a separate circuit. Ultra's (baggers in general) have a pursuit circuit for all the police stuff. It is not used on your bike. It should be a grey wire under the fairing. Double check it with a meter against pulling the fuse. But this should be on with ignition, so when you turn on the driving lights they will stay on.

Regarding the headlight - are you using Harley bulbs? If you use car or aftermarket they do not hold up to the vibration.
