Default Replacement Headlight Bulbs.....

I've done a search....came up more confused than before I started.

Age seems to be slipping up on me....my eyes are NOT what they used to be...especially at NITE! I want to add more light to the FLHT. If I may ask.....WHICH bulb(s) do you recommendor which areyall using in the headlight? Passing lamps also if you dont mind.

I'll consider HID at a later date....when overtime increases.

In advance.....Many Thanks!!!

Billy G

This is what I installed... Don't even use the spots anymore. This is a whiter light and a wider angle of view I think...

I just installed some Sylvania Silverstar 65/50 on my Ultra. The low beam seems a bit brighter and whiter, and the high beam is much better. I just need to re-align my headlight and get the H3 bulbs for the spot lights and I'll be good to go.

I was going to install the Silver Star as I have a set on my Ford truck and I am happy with them. But I was following a thread on one of the forums I go to and it seemed that some had the opinion that the Silver Star did not show up good in the daytime… Of course this is a safety issue and I overcome this with a headlight modulator. If the search feature is working try and do some research on the issue… Good luck in your choice.

I replaced the stock HD H4 bulbs in my 2007 FLTR (Roadsofa) with Sylvania 'Ultrastars', they were on sale ($30.00 for a pair). I've previously put them in all my cars. They make a BIG difference in my opinon. I'm very happy with this upgrade pricewise/performance.

This is something I've been thinking of doing myself. My concern is that there's no fear of frying the wiring due to overload or whatever. May I assume all these bulbs being discussed are just a simple swap without having to compensate for the extra draw or whatever? I'm by no means an electician so dont wanna have to worry about overloading this or that.

I agree with you and I've been in the electrical field for over 40 years. The only way I'd go for more light is with the HID's. To me too much risk in burning out a switch or harness.
It's like everyone says it's your ride and how much risk you want to take. It's like choosing a helmet a full face, 3/4, 1/2 or none. It's all about the risk..

I've beenusing the Sylvania Silver Stars for years on different bikes. Outstanding light day or night. Walmart has them in the automotive section. About 30 bucks for two. Jrsess
