Have an alarm and pager - neither have ever gone off but it does give some peace of mind. Lock everything including forks. Pay up your insurance. Sleep like a baby.
I'm not sure the RoadLok would help much against a determined thief. With about four strong guys the front wheel could be lifted and the bike loaded into a pickup truck, with or without the RoadLok and/or locking the forks. I think the security system would be the trump card in this case, as I don't know how you would defeat it.

a $20 full cover from Walmart, and a nicely lit area to park are your best defense. If they dont see what it is, the idiot theves are not going to take the time and chance to look under the cover. A real theaf is going to pick the locks, and have the bike on a trailer in no time. (Much less of those real time theves around)

Wow - that's reassuring for the times I'm on my Wing.

I have the siren and pager on my bike, cover it at night and make sure my insurance is paid up. But if they really want it, they will take it.

I used to get a downstairs room and roll the bike in at night, but since I got the 08, I've got full coverage. If anyone takes it, I'll have an 09!

I’ve never had any problems but I agree with petemac: if someone really wants it, they’re going to get it. Usually, thieves plan their heists. Although it can and does happen, opportunistic thefts have to be a lot less compared to the planned ones.

But reading these posts has given me an idea: I have several old nylon handgun holsters I no longer use. I think I’ll start leaving the biggest one I have strapped to the handlebar at night…empty of course.

I just put a cover over the bike and then I have an alarm that goes on the cover. If someone messes with the cover to get to the bike the alarm goes off.

A bunch of good measures above to hopefully discourage theft but keep in mind the last and most ignorant thing you could do is try and stop it in progress. No matter how fast you are or how good a shot you are there is always someone faster and better than you and nothing is worth your life. Last year when this question was asked a few clowns were running around with large caliber weapons, trip wires, and m18 claymores.

The best advice is pay for good insurance, use a cover and locks, sleep good and enjoy your trip or stay home, wax it, and read about other people on their trips.

I ask to park under the overhang by the entrance, never had anyone say no yet.
Lock the forks and use a half cover.
