Anyone have a good idea for an alternative to the spoke wheels that will still give it that classic look? I am not too sure about the longevity of my spokers...
There is another thread going on a related topic...how many miles out of a set of stock laced wheels. I'm at 32,000 on my '04 and I'm sure that's a drop in the bucket compared to others.
If you're really into staying with the classic look but doing something different, I put a set of Ride Wright Fat Daddy radial laced spokes on my Heritage Springer when I had it. LOVED the look. Much easier to clean (since the spokes don't cross).
I think these discussions aways raise the fear factor of spoke wheels way too much. Unless you put 15000 miles a year on your bike, you will likely never see a problem. I kind of like those fat daddys, but if you feel you must get away from the spokes, the chromed stock Road King wheels look really good is you are trying to keep the Classic look. But they have to be chromed.
these are the wheels on the '02 RKC I just bought (not sure if they are the stockers on an FLHR that were chromed). P.S. I had a '95 FLSTC and I hated cleaning the spokes..a lot!
