twisted handlebars
Gentlemen;
I transported my new 09 FLTR from charleston to upstate new york(no riding for a LONG time
) this past weekend, and ran into a small problem...
I asked a local harley dealer to assist in the loading, and much to my later chagrin, the canyon dancer they used twisted my whole handlebar assembly down, so that the bars themselves are much lower than before. They didnt bend, thank goodness.
Once i got it off the trailer, i was able to physically push them back up into proper position (with quite a bit of effort)... at least, very close. They are still a little low, but now rideable. I attempted but am unable to loosen the center hex bolts to twist the bars the remaining 1/8th turn necessary...
my question: is it ok in its current state? does the fact i was physically able to twist them back up mean it is unsafe? I only have 600 miles on my new bike, and am cautious to say the least.
also, any tips on securing the bike in an open trailer without twisting the bars is certainly welcome
any feedback/advice/jeers?

You might want to check the serrations in the bar clamps. That action may have ripped them out or wore them down allowing the bar to move at the most inopportune moment.
