this sounds crazy, but I found exactly what I needed for a project I did with my docking ports by buying longer chrome bolts from... chromebolt.com
Seriously, but I haven't checked prices lately. I just bought them, couldn't find what I needed here in town, didn't want to go stainless.

I agree. Ace Hardware has helped me out a lot with chrome bolts, and are much cheaper than the HD stuff.

Speaking of this, if I were to buy these individually from chrome bolt.com, is there a source that can tell me what diameter and length each bolt is. Have a service manual, but don't think I've seen that info in there.

the parts manual will tell you most of the hardware. in the back of the manual, just past the section with all the stickers is the 'hardware list'. it gives you the part number, and the description.

Midwest bolt and fastenerer company has both stainless and chrome plated bolts in many sizes. The chrome I think are grade 8 and the stainless I am not sure. The cost is way less than anything that harley sells. There are a lot of things they sell at harley that are probably not worth outsourcing, but chrome bolts are not among them as far as I can see. There are quite a few companies that sell bolts wholesale and also retail, so get on the internet and find one near you.
