Anyone using Ohlins shocks on their bagger?
I just ordered a set of Ohlins 36E from Howard at Motorcycle Metal in FL this guy knows his shocks......
I think I should have them next week too, I will install them and post, Im sure I will get a 100% better ride than what I have now (Prog. 412) I like the fact that its not just a shock off the self, its being built to my riding style, weight and needs.
Lets see...

I picked up a set of Ohlins HD540's over the winter.
I haven't installed them yet as it's butt *** cold here and the bike is in storage... Hopefully I'll be riding by the end of March.
The Ohlins measure just over 11 5/8" so they're over an inch shorter than the stock bagger shock, close to a stock SG. I'm not sure how I'll like the lowered setup.
My plan is to ride with the new shocks for a while and decide if the front needs to be lowered also. I'll be installing a Race Tech emulator/spring setup for the front.

"Whats going on behind closed doors"
I have been working directly with Ohlins to develop shocks for real world Harley applications. I do not think, I am pretty sure that the Swedes do not ride Harley's. Resistance at every turn, however persistence is paying off for the last few days anyhow. These are recent developments that happened within the last 2~3 weeks.
I just got the 12" & 13" shocks done. They are not available on-line at the internet re-sellers. My next efforts are going to be into developing a 12" & 13" separated system (gas separated from the oil via a separator piston) with/without a hydraulic spring pre-load, separate rebound & compression external adjustable valving, remote reservoir and a optional 1/2" height adjuster for Baggers. These are not available as we speak, just in development. We will manufacture all brackets and accessories for proper and complete all-in-one-box, no hassle installation right here in N. Miami, FL. Shocks will be bought in pieces from Sweden and assembled here in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. As per our philosophy: "shocks will be made for the person and not be made to be put in a box". Accountability!
I do not believe in a person-less experience but one where you get an adviser and counselor to tailor your needs before, during, and after the accusation. You should know my reputation and outlook by now, if not, search this great forum.
Penske had a large shake-up on the 1st of the year. We developed the Penske shock for the Harley market which as some of you long time HDF members know, took around 1 1/2 years from start to finish. As of Feb 1st (1 1/2 months ago) Penske's new management of bean counters rescinded our exclusive agreement, and, while we are still an Authorized Service Center and dealer, we now hold no exclusive position. Penske increased the pricing to us as well as retail by about 33% more than the special pricing I was giving HDF for the past year or so.
I do hope to bring Ohlins up to focusing and offering affordable (one of top three) best in the world's suspension products specifically designed for your Harley. We will see what the future brings. Thanks!
