Anyone here using Ohlins shocks on their bagger? Would like to hear what you think of them if you're using them. HD538/539/540 is the model number.
The price for a pair is very reasonable and I'm just wondering how they would perform. I'd like to improve the bike's ride over bumps. Now it's pretty choppy and Ohlins have really improved the ride on other bikes that I've owned.
I just asked that question over on the Dyna board. You should PM FastHarley or check out his web site. He sells Penske shocks and I think he sells the Ohlins.
I'll be watching this with interest, as I'm always open to a better ride. Changing the oil in my shocks and forks made a pretty good difference. But if I can get it better I'm all for it.
I picked up a set of Ohlins HD540's over the winter.
I haven't installed them yet as it's butt *** cold here and the bike is in storage... Hopefully I'll be riding by the end of March.
The Ohlins measure just over 11 5/8" so they're over an inch shorter than the stock bagger shock, close to a stock SG. I'm not sure how I'll like the lowered setup.
My plan is to ride with the new shocks for a while and decide if the front needs to be lowered also. I'll be installing a Race Tech emulator/spring setup for the front.
I went with Race Techs rear Caddie shocks, Hope to install them this week. Not Ohlins, but good reputation. I will post a comment wwhen I have a chance to ride with them. I think the price was similar to Ohlins.

I just ordered a set of Ohlins 36E from Howard at Motorcycle Metal in FL this guy knows his shocks......
I think I should have them next week too, I will install them and post, Im sure I will get a 100% better ride than what I have now (Prog. 412) I like the fact that its not just a shock off the self, its being built to my riding style, weight and needs.

Add the Ricor "Intimitators" to those forks and you will be amazed.
