Exclamation Securing your bike

Are disk locks the best way to go or are there better ideas. I know nothing is fool proof, and they can just carry the bike off if unattended.

disc locks are deterrents to discourage and/or slow down a thief. i use 2 up front and one in the rear, fork/igniton locked, alarm armed. if with another rider, I cable lock my bike to his in addition to above.

All you can do when your out riding and stop, is lock ignition, lock steering and put lock in disc. After that, pray some guys dont come along and throw your bike in a truck and blast off. Of course at home you can secure much differently ie. booby traps, you come in and never go out!!! If you know what i mean. GOOD LUCK

You could also buy a security chain and lock to another bike or something.

Default Lock idea's

I don't worry about it too much anymore. But when I took a solo trip from MA to NC,
I used a no-name brand cover... and a Xena lock and chain:

Nice device. Hadn't seen or heard of this before. Something to consider.

Disc locks are great for rolling it away thiefs. But not very good for picking it up and away we go thiefs. A long security chain & lock to another bike or something permenant is better. I've never had a problem, but never say never.

I use the State Farm method. If they really want it, it is gone. Besides, then you get a new bike. Just another reason not to dump 35K into your bike. The "evil guys" for some reason pick on scoots that have the most bling.

disk loks are the best add on value to secure from bike theft. many options out there, but disc loks still best bang for the buck to slow bike theft
