looking for a little learned knowledge on the boardI have an 8 inch Clearveiw sheild and a 9 inch Halfmoon and I like both but still get more head buffing than I want. I plan on a small pair of wings for the lower part of the batwing, but someone told me that a visor for the headlight and the two driving lights greatly reduces the wind. Is this true?????
If it is, (and I ain't sayin' it's not) it's the very first time I've ever heard it. And I've been around bikes a long time. I always thought that the visors were merely an aesthetic item to enhance appearance (if you like that look)... I'll be interested to see if anyone chimes in to tell us that it reduces the wind we all feel....

I don't believe adding headlight visors will help...
Helmet buffeting is mostly caused by a low pressure area behind the windshield. This low pressure causes air to come around the fuel tank and hit the rider square in the chest and upwards to shake the bejesus out of your head. To prove this point try holding your hand horizontaly across your chest and you'll see how much the buffeting is reduced.
I had a lot of buffeting when I had a Softail Custom with a HD winshield. I installed some Memphis Lowers on the forks which directed most of the air away from the fuel tank reducing the buffeting dramaticly...
You didn't say which model of bike you ride but any way you can stop the air from coming around the tank will fix your problem. HD sells wind deflectors that install on the sides of the forks which I hear work quite well...
+ 1 for the beer
I am just trying to figure out what set of cams to put in mine. I think I am going for
the SE255's
I've read that is a good choice of cams, but you will probably get more wind alot quicker beating on you
then with the stock cams. UNLESS them visors help.
FWIW, I tried the fork mounted air deflectors...I could never get them to stop hitting the crash guards when parking. Probably my ineptness with the install. Then I changed out my turn signal/passing lamp mounts and the deflectors don't fit at all.
I installed the under-the-triple-tree wind deflector, and that cut way down on the buffeting I was experiencing. I thought it was another one of those "Yeah, right" accessories, but it actually seems to work pretty well.
