Want to know if i need to disconnect the battery before install. The reason i ask is the instructions that came with the unit says to take off the battery yet on the fuelmoto site install instructions it does not say anything about the battery just basic plug the unit and connect the o2 plugs.Alot easier if i dont need to deal with the battery.thanks
I didn't disconnect the battery or move it. unlpugged the harness from ecu, pluged into pcv and then tucked stuff away, stuck pcv on ecm, put seat back on, plugged in the 2 O2 sensor plugs.....
super easy. did 2 bikes with pcv, ac and pipes (RK and Heritage) all in under 2 hours or so.....
only down side I did it early in the morning so it was too early to drink the required beer while working on them!
If you dont mind another question. My bike right now has the stock headers i'm having the dual headers installed today by my indy. The pcv is mapped for the bike with dual headers. Can i or maybe not install the pcv prior to taking the bike to my indy for the header install.I'll have an hour or so downtime before i have to take it to him.he's also going to be doing other stuff to the bike and dont want to spend more time than i have to.Atleast i can get that out of the way.
Rick, I had to remove the battery on my '08 Road Glide in order to get the ECM connector under the frame rail so that it would reach the PCV under the right side cover. I suspect that you will need to do the same since your King is an '08 as well. So that means you will need to disconnect the battery terminals. Be sure to disconnect the main fuse before you do so or you will wake the dead when the alarm goes off. If I recall correctly, the way you do this is to turn on the ignition, and then pull the main fuse that is under the left side cover.
I wouldn't see any harm at all in installing the PCV before your dual headers are installed. The PCV will enrich the mixture anyway, so the chance of running too lean on the way over to the shop is minimal. Better that than returning from the shop without the PCV and definitely running too lean.
I install last weekend my PCV on a Heritage. I didnt disconnect the battery.Just connect the stuff without big Problem.
Only Problem i have is the space for the PCV and Autotune to store all.
At the moment it is a little hard to put back the seat.
Maybe somebode has a heritage and could give me a pic how to store the boxes best.
Thanks

Man, you gotta remember, think different timezones "its 5 o'clock somewhere"
I didn't disconnect battery either. Usually anytime you are messing with connections, instructions for parts are going to say disconnect the battery. I have found this especially on cars. Its to reduce the risk of any shorts when breaking/making connections......
