Did a search on the "engine Forum"with out much luck. I have a "new to me" 06 Road glide. It is my first rubber mounted motor. First Harley for that matter. From the beginning, I thought that the bike vibrated more at idle than maybe it should, but being that it is my first Harley, I don't know what "normal" is. Anyway, I got to looking and noticed that the front Motor Mount has a pretty good "gap" between the lower rubber and the mount. Is this "normal" or should it be tightened? Thanks in advance for any comments.
Sounds to me like it should be changed.
Once the rubber separates from the metal, it's shot.
New mount is around $50 bucks.
You should be able to do this from the luxury of your man cave.

I agree. My bud has a '96 Road King with less that 20K and he was experiencing vibration and clunking when coming to a stop. His motor mount looked to be in very good condition unlike your description. When he pulled his mount off he found that the bolt hole going thru it was elongated/oversized and this was causing the mount to shift. I had my mount replaced on my '06 a few years ago so there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when they do wear out. The repacement cost is $64.38 and the part # is 16207-79D.
