Default ESP?

Still waiting for my dealer to prep my new Road Glide, almost two weeks now. ( just my whine for the day). My question is..... Is it worth the extra $$$$ cash for an Extended Service Plan? (ESP). Got a call from the dealer's "Business Manager" today and, she really wanted to push this thing. I'm really not interested as they start @ $ 1100.00 and go up from there. I would appreciate any comments/advice or experiences with it. Thanks

I think it depends on your previous experiences and your situation. I had a '02 Sportster and had an ESP on that, nothing ever went wrong on it. Now I have an 06 RG, and iI have it on that.

My friend has a 2000 Road Glide SE, and he's had to have his bike in several times for warranty repair, mostly on the spoiler on the tourpack that has the LED's going out every 3 months, along with other misc. things. If he didn't have the warranty on that bike, he woulda been royally screwed. So really, its if you want to take a chance. Also, if you're good with mechanics and are good at repairs, it would be less valuable. Also, do u plan on modifying the bike in a way that would void the warranty...

The only mods will be the Stage one and slip ons done before delivery. Can't see touching the engine for the first few years. Forgot to mention that this will be my first Harley. Can't wait

That's pricy for an ESP. Unless that includes some extras.

One of the local stealers had a cool deal. For around that price, it included all the services (3 or 4 a year) for 3 years. So you basically got 12 services (1k, 2.5k, 5k, etc) for $1100 or so.

Okay, some may say they saw me coming but, I would still do it again.
When I purchased my 06 EG Classic, I paid 2K$ for a 36 month service plan. For 36 months, they will do all the scheduled maintenances plus, change oil and filter every 2500 miles and, replace up to 2 batteries. Of course, warranty for 2 years picks up the nonscheduled stuff. I ride 12K miles at least per year. So, take all the scheduled services for up to and including 36K miles and add in the extra oil changes and it is quite a savings. Yeah, I know, if I did the work myself I could even save more. However, I prefer playing with the wife more than working on the bike. To old and to lazy.

I don't know about Harley Moco ESPs but you can get other contracts that are accepted by Harley dealers. And these companies will negotiate with you. I bought my bike used from a non-Harley dealer and got a 36 month contract for $750 from Western Service Contract Corp. 800 543-5225. I haven't had to use it yet so I can't vouch for how good or bad it is.
