Default Biketronics Retro radio

I installed my kit today with the Sony gt300 and I am happy with it. The install went easy, looks good, and sounds good. The handlebar controlls work flawlessly and even the automatic volume control works better than stock with a wider range of adjustbility. I have the Hogtunes speakers and I like them alot, way better than stock, but I still want for more sound. I listen to very aggresssive music and I like it loud. A little 5 1/4 inch speaker just cant give me the bass I wish for no matter how good it is . So Im thinking about building removable speaker boxes to allow me to put a 6 by 9 into each saddlebag to sort of create a subwoofer effect. Has anyone here ever tried this? How did it work out? I would lose my storage space which is why I want them removable, but I can fit everyting I need for regular daily riding in a duffle. I am surely open for other suggestions, but a tour pac is out of the question.

How about getting a set of lowers, putting 6 1/2" speakers in the glove boxes and driving them as rear speakers? Add a 4 channel amp and you should have plenty of sound without filling up your saddlebags.

Scotto,

If a tour-pack is out of the question I've been thinking of a way to mount rear speakers if you have bag guards. It would look similar to the Rumble Road stuff but large enough for a 6' speaker. An amp would not be needed with that Sony head unit. Those Rumble Road speakers look just like off road type fog lamps. Find a speaker to fit and a bar mount clamp for the bag guard and mount it in front of the bag. I dont think it will do much for bass response (not going to happen) but having 4-channel sound would be worth doing.

If your bike is pre 96 I think your pretty much doomed to use 4" front speakers and find the best rears you can fit into the pods. Look for poly prop. or aluminum cones and titanium tweeters for weather resistant replacements. It will be cheaper than the Hog Tunes route anyway. (Sorry Pez) If you no longer use your CB then the Biketronics Retro kit is for you. Might as will collect up all the equiptment and do it all at once.
