Question Question - Power

Is there any benefit to changing Air Cleaner and adding Power Commander, with out changing pipes?

upgrade the exhaust so that the intake upgrades can be realized (and $$$ spent is NOT wasted)

Other than a cooler running m/c, you might gain a 1 or hp. You need to compliment the a/c change by expelling the exhaust faster (not louder).

That is why I do not want to change exhaust (like quiet).

On a side note: I ran just the A/C with a PC V for a while. Gas mileage was 36, maybe 37 MPG. I just (2 tanks ago) installed the Dyno Tuned Jackpots with the appropriate remap, my MPG went up into the 41 to 43 MPG range. (plus it sounds like a real Harley now LOL) I couldn't be happier!!

You can get performance exhaust w/o the noise. Rush come into mind, there are others. That is why I said expelled quickly, does not = noisy.

Spend the power commander money on exhaust - you dont need a tuner at "stage 1" unless your bike is an older model without oxygen sensors.

To put it simply a motor is an air pump. You need to get fuel and air in the motor and out the pipes freely in order to gain the side effect from this air pump which is power. Pipes are more important at this stage.

No intent to hi-jack this thread, but I have a question relating to all this.

Can these mods be done in stages;

Add Power Commander
Add Air Cleaner
Add Exhaust

I realize that I will probably have to get new maps as I go along for each additional mod put on.

Thanks in advance for your help.
