i have a 08 road king classic im about 6'4 on long rides im still getttin bad shoulder and neck pain after replacing the bars , i kinda feel very crowded on the bike my legs are very tall.. ive been told if i but highway pegs and extend the brake and shifter controls my legs will now be more spread out and may take away the pain ... any comments and where can i find the extension parts?? ezbrake???
There are lots of avenues to travel down to address your problem. Jaybrake makes some bagger forward controls that might help you. A seat change might also be in order.
I get the pain also and I replaced the seat, the bars, added a rider back rest, I would love to tell you a true cure...for me there is none. I have arthritis at the base of the neck not bad but when sitting in a car the same result is there and tension is the biggest culprit. when I sit and look straight ahead for long periods of time on the bike/cage my neck stiffens . The cure for me is exercise as I am moving down the highway, just basically looking around more helps tremendously, or just being a bobble head for a few tenths of a mile. When I am on side roads I have little to no problem, because I am enjoying the scenery/view and looking around for the unknowns. As we get older this is very common to have arthritis at the base of the neck (at least this is what my Doc says). However, I do not regret any changes I have made to my bike they were all for the better in my opinion. Ride safe.
I feel your pain, I'm 6-9 so I know what your going thru. I put 13" ape to start with, then put the 5" swing out highway pegs, and then the seat. I used a air ride seat from a cop bike. Seat moved me up 2" and back 2". It's not the prettiest seat in the world but it sure is comfy on the butt.Oh, also move the tour pak up for a back rest.
