Been with Progressive since 02. Unfortunately in 2004 I had to lay it down, dumb a$$ in a truck crossed centerline and it was hit him or lay it down. Anyhow, progressive came right out, wrote it all up, paid me and even paid my labor to put the scoot back together. Bike was never away from my shop. I rode it while waiting on the painted parts. I am staying with them.

USAA sent me to progressive last year. this year when progressive policy ended renewal was almost $700 (08 Ultra). agent told me to get a new quote from progressive...it was $500. so, it's cheaper to get a new policy with progressive rather than renew. also progressive was cheaper than other companies I checked with (Geico/State Farm).

I had progressive , but when I bought my08 RK, the dealer talked me into Safeco, which is part of liberty mutrual. They has a special contract with people buying new bikes from this dealer. I checked from other riders with claims with Safeco, and they seemed to be good on taking care of matters as well as progressive. What amazed me was the price was actually cheaper then what I was paying on my 99 softale.

I pay about $340 a year (full coverage) with towing included.
I am 47 with a clean driving record.

I talked to progressive today. I thought the rates were outrageous. More than twice what I pay now. Attitude was not very good at all. Take it or leave it. I have a great driving record, in my late 50's and been riding M/C for over 40 yrs and have the M/C safety course etc.
I'll stay where I'm at.

Default Progressive insurance

I have had many insurance plans over my life and hope I can always stay with Progressive. Auto, motorcycle and home.

Everette,

Your experience mirrors mine very closely. I'm 53 and will pass my 40th anniversary riding motorcycles this year. I've also got a clean driving record and have never made a claim. It's been a while since I've taken a MC Safety Course but I have taken them. On one quote, Progressive was close to triple what I've been paying and when I questioned that, they're people took pretty much an "Oh well, take it or leave it" attitude. I have no idea what they see in me, or the area I live, to justify the numbers they've given me. Needless to say, Progressive is off my list too!

One thing I've noticed is that the highest insurance quotes I've ever gotten have consistently come from companies that go out of their way to advertise how much money they'll save me. That being the case, I really shouldn't be surprised at the numbers I've gotten from Progressive.

Any additional details on USAA? I've been with them all my life and they continue to cover my bike, and cheaply. I do have all my vehicles with them as well as other coverage.

USAA dropped motorcycle coverage several years ago and apparently linked up with Progressive. Bad call for USAA in my opinion, but I've been with USAA since 1971, and to me they are not what they used to be either.

I think the 'lucky" part is that I am 63 years old, drive slow, no claims in centurys, have grandkids, you get the picture. Also Texas insurance is pretty high regulated by the state.
