I thought I saw a thread about the recommended choice of SE adjustable pushrods but now I can't find it.
I looks like I have two options:
Premium Tapered Quick-Install Adjustable Pushrods #18404-08
Quick-Install Pushrod Kit For Twin Cam-Equipped Models #17997-99A
What is everyone using? Do the pushrod covers in the Quick Install kit give that much more room for adjusting the rods?
I bought the crane adjustable push rods and I like them....but yes if the kit gives you new pushrod tubes then go with it....because the stock ones with adjustable pushrods it can be a PIA.......
If money isn't an issue, go with the tapered ones. They don't rub at the top like the other SE version is prone to do. Also they are better if using a higher lift cam. I run the older version of SE's and would like to switch to the tapers because I am getting a little rubbing I think from the occasional noise I am hearing. Having said all that, the older version SE does work just fine, just more prone to have some rubbing.
Yep, what JD said. Each kit comes with shorter tubes. No reason not to use them, especially when the shorter ones give just enough room for the 3 wrenches you need to lock everything down.
For a few extra bucks, might as well get the tapered ones. I did and glad of it. They come in handy if you can't leave good enough alone and decide to use a high lift cam in the future.
