Default Quite Shift??

When my bike ('09 SG) has been run for a while, I can shift from Neutral into 1st gear and no clunk or other noise is heard. When it's cold, the famous clunk is present. I'm running Amsoil 75/90 gear oil. Normal???

yes, your trans is working great. i did the change over to synthetic in the trans with royal purple 75-140 and couldn't be happier. shifts as well as a jap bike, and that's saying a lot. it does clunk when cold, and i think that has more to do with the clutch releasing fully due to the primary lube not being warm enough to release the clutch totally. this new synthetic stuff rocks.

I used Amsoil for a year and then switched to Redline. The Redline is much "stickier" for lack of a better term. Cold shifting is much quieter. Yes, the Amsoil is good but the Redline is superior IMO.
