Default muffler weight????

Can anyone tell me what the weight of a stock touring muffler is? I read that one of the negatives about the Monster Ovals is their weight-believe they weigh 24 pounds. Is this that big of a deal or something that shouldnt be much of a concern. Thanks!

They are supported very well on the rear hangers and I've had no problems with my S&S mufflers that are a similar weight after 2 years use

Couldn't resist, I had the stock mufflers from my "09 RG out in the garage, so I grabbed them and headed for the digital scale. It looks like they weigh 16.2 lbs for the pair. Hope this helps.

put the monster ovals on a week or so ago, they are heavier than the stock mufflers but i would think not much more than a pound or 2 each. i didn't weigh them just goin by feel.

Why is the weight an issue? Are you expecting an 800+ pound bike to be affected by an additional few pounds from the mufflers?

Geez, I gain more than that during riding season.

my 06 EGC stock right side was heavy with the cat. and the left side light. I don't think the bike was balanced that way. it rides better with equal weight mufflers IMO.

Thank you all for your input and responses. It sounds like the added weight is not a big concern. I think maybe Im just trying to find something to talk myself out of buying those expensive but impressive mufflers.

I just ordered mine today. Getting my heat shields coated for $85. Sweet. Good luck in your decision. I read where the MOs can be fitted with cats if/when that day comes.
