Default 07 StreetGlide problems

Went riding for a couple hours today...came back for a few min..went to leave again, cranked bike and backed up, couldnt get into nuetral...then the bike shut off..almost like i hit the switch..then it wouldnt crank..finally turned over, real slow...tried a few times, each time it seemed as the starter was dragging....finally cranks, and theres a rattling noise coming from the primary,, went to go into the garage, and there was a whine coming from there as well.,,,whats the experts think? thanks in advance..

I just had to replace my starter on my 07... $471 with labor. Sucks.. the big one. Now some of my teeth on my crank (whatever the starter hits when it is engaged) are now gone so every now and then I still get an odd spin.

I had 45K on the bike when I had to get the new starter. I guess that isn't too horrible, but shouldn't a starter last longer than 45K?

Thanks, Scary

it does pay to establish a good repoire with your dealer. i'm really glad i bought my bike from a great dealer, they treat me as a friend, rather than just a custormer. and i already know this will continue long after i stop buying chrome goodies too.
