I had the same problem (I also have the tall windshield). I inserted the replacement inserts for the screws and with a little blue locktite, all is well.

Next time you have your fairing off, check the 'inserts' that the screws, screw into. Sounds to me like you need to replace them. If you do replace them, be sure to 'lube' the new ones so that they won't crack the plastic.

I am not as familiar with the shark nose, but is it popping out the screws or is it popping out the inserts that hold the screws. If it is the inserts, get the heavy duty replacements from your dealer. they will hold. If you get them, the slotted end goes in first. just use the screw or a hex head and put them in. hope this helps

Part #16585-96. They have an external 3/8-16 thread. They are also slotted on one end. This is NOT a screw driver slot. This end goes in first and is self tapping. You drive these in by screwing a short 1/4-20 hex head bolt into the insert and driving it with a socket.

too much torque and too much pressure makes the inserts pull out.. So the remedy is super glue or epoxy (id go epoxy) or the new style screw in insert.. Suit yourselves it your money ...

Nothing heavy duty about them, just a better design. My '06 came with the old style knurled, press fit insert. When they loosened up, I replaced them with the threaded insert. Just another thing the MoCo can sell you rather than give it to you as original equipment. They are better because they are threaded into the fairing.

Default Thanks to all for input

This i s my 4th bike with a fairing and windshield.....this is by far the poorest designed and worse manufacturing of all. I might as well have a direct vent to the radio let alone when the rain comes.....the black molding is constantly coming off. I am on Cee Baily looking at their stuff. they dont even reccommend usssing the black molding when installing one of their shields.

Looking into the old parts as mentioned.....

Thanks again to all that responded......
