First what I have, 07 Street Glide- Bub 2:1 exhaust- k&n air filter, from Fuel Moto. I got the map from Keith @ FM,and the bike rode great, very strong in all ranges. The only disappointment was mpg, with momma and me plus light luggage i got average of about 37 mpg,we went about 600 mi. I took the bike to Kutters HD to have it dyno tuned to see what else I can get out of it. My question is,finally, if I hook my lap top to the PC will the map that was loaded @ the dyno, load on the lap top,I dont want to lose or bastardise it? I still have the map from FM so I want to compare maps and chose which is best for me. It might be a $270 experiment on the dyno run but at least I'll know for sure. Thanks
To obtain your map you can hook up the pc to the lap top and either get map or save it. It will depend on how the PC program was set up. I think the newest version load the map in the pc from the start. At least mine does but I may have set it up that way as well. i do not recall. If not hit get map and then save as. No biggie, Do you know if the map was tuned for both front and rear or a front only with copy and paste?? many times you have issues with MPG when tuners take a short cut and do not spend the time to tune both cylinders independent of each other.

Been meaning to ask this question for along time.
With stock headers on tour bike, or for that matter, anything other than true duals, how do you make a map for the rear cylinder? Sniffer goes where?
Same question I guess for non tourers without tru 2-2 exhaust.
JRD, you can not substitute a Good Dyno Tune with a preload.
There are just to many variables to work with.( as NVSteve mentioned the clip and paste bit ). You mentioned a cost of $270.00 was that for the Power Commander or the cost of the dyno ?
When my bike was an 88 and had the SE Air Filter and SE203's I had it on a dyno at Jarzz Performance here in Canada, Lee had it tuned and good to go in an hour, cost me a $100.00 plus some tax, ended up with 69 Hp and 74Fpounds of Torq.
We could ahve tuned front and rear, but the added costs or drilling the exhaust pipe on the rear pipe and welding was not appealing to me then. My A/F was a smooth 14.5 IIRC.
Discuss with your tuner what your looking for when talking about end results...Fire Breathing Monster or a Quick and Reliable Touring bike for you and the other half.
As always, my .02 worth .
Rob
Ahh I also would get between 275 and 300 KM to a tank of fuel useing either Shell 91 or Chevron High test 92.....
Steve, they drill a hole in your header pipe for rear cyl. for the sniffer and then weld it back up.
something like a 3/8th hole???? just guessing on that bit
morning men, i posted the ? before i picked up the bike, now it turns out to be a dumb a$$ question. The bike runs awsome, not sure about mpg yet, proably today. It cost me $270 for the tune, which looks like money well spent. You're right nv, this thing runs so good my wrist hurts from twisting the throttle.i ended up with 8 more hp and 7 more ft lbs.of tq, throttle response is right there.no matter what, i'm going to have to leave it alone, for some reason momma thinks i'm wasting money on the street glide, the good news is she's not talking to me. hopefully i gain some mpg, then all will be good. later
Have heard nothing but good about Fuel Moto .. Was not aware of them when Bought my PCIII Tuner for my 08 EGS but long story short.. Bought a PCIII at a great price took it to the Local Tuner ( Is all he does ) for 200.00 he installed it and tuned it to perfection.. Money well spent...
There is only one way to tune , that means front and rear. Stock head pipes can be tuned with out welding???? Not sure why you need to weld anything, But anyways. There are ways around it and a good tuner should know this. Loading maps after maps is nothing more than guessing. Having a base map to start with is great but it still needs to be tuned . There is no way to take the front map and copy to the rear, as both cylinder require completely different tables. ( IE fuel)
Interesting no one mentioned the option to get the Auto Tune module. For the cost of 1 dyno tune, 299. You have the ability to change and adjust on the fly.
