Did you try removing the ground wire and re-installing? If the bike starts up after that then my guess would be that you have a bad ground connection. If you have a meter then check the ground wire to the chassis to make sure you have a good solid ground.
I had a similar problem, and a forum member helped me out.
There is a fuel line fitting under the primary side of the gas tank. It is black plastic and it is a 90 degree fitting. Put your hand under the fitting and pull it up towards the tank. That got mine running right away.
Found this procedure on how to check the CKP. If this is correct, mine is reading 5M Ohms and is defective. I measured mine by removing the clip under the right cover. I would like to verify the test before I go buying pieces parts.
Procedure:
I pulled the ckp sensor,it looked clean,so i took an ohm reading and it read
2-3 Mohm, which is basically open.I picked up a new one and it read about 1k,which seemed more reasonable.Any way ,I put it in and it fired right up.

Also for the coil measure the resistance between the coil primary terminals.
check the resistance between between the secondary terminals.
Primary are the harness plug and secondary are the plug wire connectors.
